The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is a procedural law that deals with procedures to be followed by trial courts and appellate courts to handle criminal matters. Pleadings are the basis of the case, on which the case stands and is decided. Apart from regular pleadings used in trials and appeals, various applications are required to be placed before the court during the pendency of the case for various reasons such as urgency, change in situation of the case etc. In this article, we have compiled the requisite list of applications/petitions under BNSS (with corresponding provisions in CrPC) used in trial and appellate courts.
